Chelsea ace ready to take a put cut to force Serie A switch

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is ready to take a huge pay cut to move to Inter Milan

According to Daily Mail, Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is ready to take a significant pay cut in order to help Inter Milan seal his transfer move in the following summer window.

Even though the 28-yeat-old has been the highest scorer for Chelsea in the latest campaign, the he is far from matching the scintillating form he showed in Italy. His disappointing spell harmed our team’s chances to secure a title in this campaign, which wasn’t the expected output after the £97.5m investment by the club.

Apart from the humongous transfer fee, Lukaku also secured a significant pay raise when he moved to Chelsea from Inter Milan. His current salary is said to be in the region of £6.4m a year which comes down to a £3m a year take home deal after taxes.

Romelu Lukaku has struggled at Chelsea since his move from Inter Milan.

Inter are already struggling to manage their books and won’t be able to sign Lukaku on a permanent move. Even if they try to take him on loan, his humongous wages remains a huge barrier for the Italian outfit to complete the deal. But now it is believed that the 29-year-old wants to take a pay cut of £3m a year in order to help his former team complete his transfer.

The Blues are in no way interested in waiving off the enormous transfer fee or topping up his wages to engineer a move. However, at the end of the day, everything depends on Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel’s intervention.

Should Chelsea let Lukaku leave?

Chelsea haven’t got the striker for which they paid £97.5m, they have only received an off-form Lukaku who has struggled to adapt to Thomas Tuchel’s tactics in his first season after returning to the West London outfit. Now if he continues such a disappointing spell, it wouldn’t be advantageous for any parties involved.

After only one season with the club, if Chelsea agrees to sell or loan him, the club would incur a major financial loss. Considering the current form of the Belgian striker, it is doubtful that any top team will pay the price or even his huge wages.

However, on the other hand, keeping him at the club against his own will wouldn’t do any good to our team’s intentions either. If Lukaku loses the commitment to the project, then he might not be able to showcase the effort required to reach a world-class level.

It is still pretty unclear exactly what all the parties involved want. The situation would change when the club would sit with the Belgian star in a one-to-one conversation about his plans to understand whether his intentions are in line with the best interest of the club.
