Chelsea are ‘serious’ about making an offer for Leeds United forward Raphinha
Chelsea are interested in signing Leeds United forward Raphinha as the Blues step up their pursuit for an attacking player. According to the Daily Mail via Metro, Chelsea are ‘serious’ about submitting an offer to the Whites for their Brazilian superstar.
The side from West Yorkshire has set an asking price of £50million for the 25-year-old. Arsenal have already had a bid rejected by Leeds as it was deemed insufficient. Tottenham are also supposedly interested in the player.
However, the Brazil national is keen on a move to Barcelona this summer. That isn’t a surprise given their stature in Spain, but the Blues are no small club either.
A wide player who brings goals
Raphinha has been the star man for Leeds ever since joining from Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais in 2020. The Brazilian had an impressive debut season in the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa, helping his side finish 9th.
In his second season, however, the Whites struggled and battled for relegation, but the 25-year-old’s performances have stood out. Raphinha played a big part in ensuring Leeds’ survival.
In 66 appearances for the West Yorkshire club, the Brazilian has contributed 17 goals and 11 assists. Elland Road has been witness to his skills and goal-scoring ability and Blues fans will hope the club will bring him to Stamford Bridge next season.
With most of our forwards underperforming this season, Chelsea needs someone that can create chances and score some goals, and Raphinha fits the bill. The Bridge has witnessed a disappointing season as fans had expected the team to challenge for the league. Instead, the team fell off dramatically at the end of the season.
Chelsea also failed to score in the two finals we played this season, which will be a worrying sign for next season as well unless the club go out and get a proven goalscorer.

If Raphinha does join the Blues, it’ll be interesting to see what the future will hold for the likes of Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi. But that shouldn’t matter to our fans as long we get in a player who can bring magic to the Bridge.
