Transfer News: Chelsea make offer for Tottenham Hotspur target Gleison Bremer
According to renowned Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio (h/t the Express), Chelsea have made an important offer for Torino defender and Tottenham Hotspur target Gleison Bremer.
The Brazilian has also been a strong target for Serie A giants Inter Milan, who continue to negotiate with Chelsea regarding a loan return for Romelu Lukaku.
Bremer joined Torino in the summer of 2018 from Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro and has since gone on to establish himself as a regular in Italy’s top flight. In his four seasons in Turin, Bremer has made 110 appearances for Torino.
Both Spurs and Inter have shown serious interest, but it seems like Chelsea are attempting to spoil the party with their timely intervention.
As the Lukaku negotiations continue with Inter, the Blues are understood to have asked for players coming the other way. The Nerazzurri seem to be opposed to that idea.
If Inter can keep hold of both Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriniar, then it doesn’t make sense for them to invest big money in Bremer. Heis capable of playing in both back three and back four formations, which is something that Chelsea would be seeking at the moment.
Will it be a good deal for Chelsea?
Torino are believed to be valuing Bremer in the region of £34.1million, which is a welcome number to hear in the currently inflated market. Cheap by no means, but within the reach of a club like Chelsea- at least that’s what our fans would want to think, especially after a change in ownership.
Marcos Alonso is understood to be leaving, and captain Cesar Azpilicueta also has the option to follow suit. Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen have already left.
In the event that Chelsea end up losing four defenders in one window, it would be smart if Chelsea sign more than just two defenders.

So even if Bremer does arrive, that doesn’t shut the door for one of the other major names, besides Jules Kounde, to join. Defence has been Tuchel’s strongest suit since taking over.
It is imperative we give the German a strong backline to build his team on once again. Taking on the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool isn’t easy, and the Blues know that the summer window is a chance to close the gap between them and the two top teams in England.
