Bournemouth are targeting Levi Colwill in the midst of Chelsea defensive exodus

According to Mail Online (h/t football.london), Scott Parker, a former Chelsea midfielder and current Bournemouth manager, has expressed an interest in Levi Colwill ahead of the summer transfer season. However, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is equally interested in seeing this youngster fulfil his potential at the Bridge.

The 19-year-old, a Chelsea academy product, is currently on loan with Huddersfield Town in the Championship. He has already established himself as one of the finest defenders in the league, drawing comparisons to Chelsea veteran John Terry.

After Bournemouth’s promotion to the Premier League, Parker is eager to sign this young prodigy as his first signing of the summer. The Chelsea loanee’s performances had already drawn the attention of Leicester City, and now Bournemouth have joined the race to sign him.

Tuchel’s plans for the loanee

Chelsea are on the verge of losing some of its defenders and will be looking to make use of their loaned players and make some signings to tighten the defence. As a part of this process, Tuchel has decided to check out Levi Colwill during the pre-season.

With Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen due to depart Stamford Bridge when their contracts expire in the summer, losing the youngster may be a major blow to the Blues. We must ensure that he is given a fair chance to prove himself rather than losing him like Tammy Abraham.

More Chelsea news

Even though the new owners have been announced and would probably want to make big signings in the summer transfer window we can still make use of our academy talent. We have already produced and lost several players who have gone on to become global superstars now.

Considering the current exodus of defenders and the need to implement a new model of transfer market strategy, similar to that of Liverpool, we need to be patient regarding the transfer of players. Colwill seems to have a lot of potential in him and it is best we test him out and give him a chance to prove his worth before making any wrong move.
