Chelsea forward set to refuse offers from PL club and Serie A giants this summer

Transfer News: Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is set to refuse AC Milan and Newcastle United move this summer

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku wouldn’t fancy a move to AC Milan and Newcastle despite his lack of game time under Thomas Tuchel.

Lukaku’s spell after his return to Chelsea has been below average so far. Not only did he anger the club’s fanbase, and to some extent, Tuchel, by criticising his tactics in an interview earlier this season, Lukaku has failed to make the number 9 position his own at Stamford Bridge.

After signing the ex-Manchester United man for £97.5million, Chelsea wouldn’t want him warming the bench. Considering the recent developments in the team, the Belgian striker’s future remains up in the air with Timo Werner and Kai Havertz sharing gametime with him down the middle of our attack.

Even if the Blues try to sell him in the summer transfer window, there wouldn’t be many interested parties to secure his signature considering the humongous wage and transfer fee involved in signing the 28-year-old. Lukaku is believed to be earning £300,000-a-week currently, which would be difficult to bear for most teams.

The newly-rich Newcastle United have the financial backing to complete the deal. Along with the Magpies, AC Milan are also interested in signing Lukaku- a player who won the Scudetto with their city rivals, Inter Milan, last year.

However, the Belgian striker would refuse any approach from both parties in the following summer window. He doesn’t want to anger the Inter Milan fans by joining their bitter rivals and Newcastle, meanwhile, are in a phase of rebuilding rather than a finished product.

Do Romelu Lukaku have a future at Chelsea?

What lies ahead for Lukaku?

Even though Lukaku hasn’t given desired performances this term, the Belgian still remains one of our most lethal strikers this term when it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net. Rather than speaking about Lukaku’s brilliance, this showcases how poor our attack has been this season.

In Lukaku’s case, he might be taking longer than expected to adapt to the system. He already suggested how tough it has been for him to play under the German manager’s tactics. Perhaps, he needs a bit more time to fully get going at the Bridge.

There is still a chance for him to prove his worth this month. Chelsea are in a top-four race but more importantly, have an important FA Cup final against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. If he can get a goal there, perhaps it could act as a jumpstart for his Chelsea career- the same way a UEFA Champions League final goal did for Havertz last year.
