Chelsea players unhappy after Thomas Tuchel makes training decision

Dressing room disappointment as Thomas Tuchel forced Chelsea players to train on their day off

According to The Sun (h/t Daily Mail), Chelsea players were asked by Thomas Tuchel to attend a training session, during their day off. This move by the blues manager, who badly wants to stop the team’s subpar performances, appears to have irritated the players.

The Blues’ recent draw against Wolves has put them in danger of dropping to fourth position, with Arsenal only one point short of them. In their last five games, the west Londoners have only one win.

The club has been going through a difficult period as a result of the sanctions imposed on them, which have had an impact on their day-to-day operations, and fans could argue that such things could impact players. The uncertainty over the club’s future has the potential to affect players’ mental state, but that can’t be the entire reason behind it.

However, captain Cesar Azpilicueta’s recent statements as quoted by football.london and covered by ASBTF may change their views, as he stated that the takeover had nothing to do with the players and that the players had to concentrate more on the field.

“The team has been completely out of the process. Our focus has been on the pitch. Of course we are disappointed not to give the first win for him. It is out of our hands so not worth wasting energy on that.”

Will Tuchel’s determination inspire the team?

Tuchel appears keen to get the club back on track before the end of the season, despite the team’s recent drop in performance. His choice to call the players for a session on their off-day was a clear indication of this.

The players were not on the same note as it was claimed that the players felt irritated about having to train on their day off. Footballers usually spend almost their week away from home attending team training sessions, recovery seasons, straight and conditioning sessions, gym sessions and so on.

Players may be raking in good money but also need time off for other things in life apart from football. Nevertheless, if work calls, fans would expect them to oblige rather than be irritated over it.

It’s a pleasure having a manager who is not afraid of the dressing room reaction when it comes to ensuring what’s best for the club. He too could have used that day for himself but instead, put the club first.

More Chelsea news

Tuchel’s motivation to push them to deliver their best also has to be appreciated and it could help the team finish the season better. We also have the FA Cup final against Liverpool at the end of May, which would require extra effort to win.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are intense in their playing style and we got a first-hand view of that in the EFL Cup final where we lost. This is an important month ahead for us and a top-four finish is the absolute least fans would be expecting right now.
