Agent dampens Chelsea’s hope of securing 24-year-old goal machine’s signature

Transfer News: Chelsea dealt transfer blow as Lautaro Martinez is happy at Inter Milan says agent

Chelsea have been dealt a transfer blow after agent Alejandro Camano revealed that his client Lautaro Martinez is happy at Inter Milan. This update will not be good news for the English club if they have plans to facilitate a move for the centre-forward sometime in the future.

Martinez has been linked with an exit from Inter, with Arsenal and Chelsea being touted as two of the possible destinations. However, those talks have been brought to a close after Camano expressed that they hold no weight at this point as his client is content with his current life.

Speaking on Radio Colonia, as quoted by Goal (h/t Football.London), Camano has conveyed that the Argentine forward is not looking for a transfer as he is happy with the Nerazzurri right now. The agent added that claims regarding a move are false as the striker wants to make Inter fans happy by winning the Scudetto at the end of this season.

“We are not depending on a transfer, he is at Inter, he is happy, the city is wonderful. Sometimes the press publishes things about a transfer but Lautaro is thinking about Inter, giving the people of Inter joy, becoming champions and working for the World Cup.”

Blow for Chelsea?

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a solid campaign so far, with 21 goals and three assists to his name from 45 appearances across all competitions. His performances have helped the Italian side to compete for retaining their Serie A title this time around.

Being one of the best centre-forwards in world football, the South American would undoubtedly have been a valuable addition to our squad. After all, our attackers have often fallen short compared to the midfield and defence, and quality signings could be the way to solve that particular issue.

Martinez would have been a smart shout indeed as he could also have helped Romelu Lukaku to get back to his best self. After all, both of them formed a strong partnership with each other during their time together under Antonio Conte at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in the last term.

However, a move seems to be out of the cards for now if Camano’s words are anything to go by. Hence, we may need to divert our attention elsewhere if there are plans for attacking reinforcements.

Then again, as it is widely known now, we cannot engage in any sort of dealings with the current sanctions imposed on the club, which means that our priority should be to complete the sale process so that we can finally focus our attention on the transfer market business.

Timo Werner can use competition while Kai Havertz, as decent as he can be when deputising at centre-forward, hasn’t played as a natural number 9 before this season. Perhaps selling the Cobham graduate Tammy Abraham to AS Roma last summer was an unwise call after all.
