Transfer News: Clubs queue up for services of talented Chelsea youngster

Rangers, Fulham, and Bournemouth are possible loan destinations for Chelsea rising star Billy Gilmour next season

According to 90mins (h/t Norfolk Live), Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour is being tipped for a temporary move to Rangers next season. Fulham and Bournemouth are also slated as possible destinations for the 20-year-old who is currently on loan at Norwich City.

The Scottish international had a tough spell under former Canaries boss Daniel Farke but has featured more regularly under Dean Smith. Gilmour has made 16 appearances under the English manager and has put in solid performances from time to time.

While the young midfielder seems to be growing in leaps and bounds, it is still highly unlikely that the 20-year-old will be able to make the cut regularly in the current Chelsea squad. As such another loan move could help him bag some more minutes, helping refine the finer aspects of his game.

What next for Gilmour

Our players have conjured up a pretty reliable partnership in the middle of the park with Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante, and Jorginho being the most prominent options whenever fit. Whilst they have been highly dependable, the French and the Italian midfielders are now in their 30s.

The club could therefore look to future proof the midfield, should we play our cards right we won’t have to shell out the big bucks on replacements and could look at Billy Gilmour as our prime successor should he continue on the same trajectory.

The Scottish player still has a lot to learn and at 20, possesses some of his prime professional years ahead of him. A move back to Ibrox can seem like a decent option. That being said, the Cottagers have already qualified for the Prem next season and the Cherries are on the cusp of doing the same.

Hence a move to these two clubs could ensure that Gilmour gets more playing time in the Premier League which could be considered a more competitive league as compared to the Scottish one. The physical demands of the Premier League could also help him develop that side of his game to a greater extent.

Should Chelsea be genuinely interested in sending Billy Gilmour out on loan again, the apparent links to these clubs could spell good news. With that in mind, the club should thoroughly assess which place could help him better develop his game and look to coordinate a suitable deal accordingly.
