Transfer News: Chelsea earmark PSG ace to replace Antonio Rudiger

Chelsea eyeing PSG’s Presnel Kimpembe as Antonio Rudiger replacement

According to Goal (h/t Football.London), Chelsea are interested in signing PSG’s Presnel Kimpembe to solve their defensive problems in the upcoming summer transfer window.

German international Antonio Rudiger recently revealed that he wouldn’t be signing a new contract extension with the Blues. The 29-year-old star is set to leave the club in the summer transfer window as things stand. In such a case, Blues would require a like-for-like reinforcement.

Andreas Christensen has also decided to leave the club on a free transfer next summer. If both players leave in the transfer window, the Blues could face a massive shortage of depth in the squad.

Now it is believed that Chelsea are interested in signing PSG’s Kimpembe to replace Rudiger. At the same time, they are also eyeing the services of Atletico Madrid star Jose Gimenez in order to strengthen the defensive contingent.

Will the new transfers help Chelsea manage the situation?

Kimpembe has proven to be a sensational performer for PSG over the years. Making 39 appearances in this campaign, he has helped his team secure the French title and also put up a fight on the European front.

It seems to be the perfect time for the Frenchman to take his game to a new level.  Even though the 26-year-old doesn’t have any experience playing in England, he has plenty of expertise in European football.

He is also a player who Thomas Tuchel will be familiar with following his spell at Paris Saint-Germain. Whether a potential reunion with the German and also Thiago Silva will help sway Kimpembe remains to be seen.

Considering how Thiago Silva managed his transition, the Frenchman probably wouldn’t face many problems either. Even if he does, our top-class coaching staff can help make his life easier.

If our two crucial defenders leave in the summer, the newcomers won’t get much time to settle into the team. They would be expected to adapt rapidly and produce top-notch performances.
