“Winning tradition”- American Billionaire makes vow amidst ownership selection

Ken Griffin promises to Chelsea fans to make the club ‘the most competitive team possible’

Speaking in an interview as quoted by the Express, American Billionaire Ken Griffin has made a promise to the Chelsea fans to make the Blues ‘the most competitive team possible’ if the Ricketts consortium ends up buying the London based club.

Long-time owner Roman Abramovich saw his assets frozen by the UK Government after he was placed on the sanctions list. This led to a situation where the club has been put up for sale and is in search of new ownership.

The London based club is now operating on a special licence granted by the UK Government, that allows them to continue playing but under certain restrictions. Whilst bids have been coming in from potential buyers, there is still no decision on who the new owners at the club would be.

Of the bidders who have put their hat in the running for the Chelsea ownership, the Ricketts consortium is one of the leading contenders. Ken Griffin, a partner of the Ricketts family, has revealed his excitement about the potential ownership of the London based club and has made promises to the Chelsea fans.

“All of us love to compete and, even more, we love to win. Our group will work closely together to put the most competitive team on the pitch every year. If selected, we will validate the trust placed in us to continue Chelsea’s winning tradition while delivering a terrific game-day experience for the fans.”

Something the fans would want to hear?

Abramovich’s glorious reign at the helm of Chelsea is coming to a very sudden end, and Stamford Bridge is about to embark on a new era.

Chelsea are a club used to winning and it will be very imperative for the new owners to prioritise trophies over money. The last thing the fans of the club would want is an owner who is very different to the kind of owner they have had in the past 19 years.

The Russian has always prioritised the sporting project, willing to pump in truckloads of cash to make Chelsea the force they are to reckon with today. With such a perspective in mind, Griffin’s promise will make the Blues happy.
