Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel a priority for La Liga behemoths if they sack current manager

Report: Real Madrid have Thomas Tuchel as their priority if they sack Carlo Ancelotti

According to Sport (h/t Metro), Real Madrid have Thomas Tuchel as their number one option to replace Carlo Ancelotti at the managerial helm.

Real Madrid are leading the La Liga title race and have made it through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Despite Real Madrid’s decent run this season, there are claims that the Italian manager could be sacked with club president Florentino Perez supposedly unhappy with the manager’s playing style.

In the aftermath of Real Madrid’s 4-0 humbling to eternal rivals Barcelona, there have been widespread calls that Ancelotti be removed from his position. In such a situation, it is being claimed that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is on top of the list of replacements.

The former Borussia Dortmund and PSG manager has time and again proved his mettle, especially since joining the Blues, guiding them to a Champions League and Club World Cup within a year. It comes as no surprise that the German coach is sought after in world football and Real Madrid are no different.

If the Los Blancos end up losing to Chelsea in the quarter-finals and somehow manage to lose the Spanish title race, it would be hard for Ancelotti to save his job at the Santiago Bernabeu. Although, the ex-Everton boss is in a strong position to win La Liga this season.

Could Tuchel leave?

Ever since the ownership issues have plagued the Blues, there have been extensive rumours regarding Thomas Tuchel’s continuity at Stamford Bridge. While the German manager has continually refuted such claims reasserting his dedication to Chelsea, interest from Real Madrid can be enticing enough for some of the world’s biggest managers. It certainly was for Ancelotti himself, who left Everton after a short time at Goodison Park.

Tuchel has been exemplary for the Blues, ever since he came halfway through last season and has made Chelsea one of the best clubs in the world in this period.

The Blues will not want to lose the German manager at any cost and would be wise to try everything in their power to hold on to Tuchel. However, having already managed a club in Bundesliga, La Liga and the Premier League, it remains to be seen if the opportunity to manage a La Liga giant would turn out to be enticing for the Chelsea boss.

Right now, it seems unlikely that Tuchel could leave the Blues but it is not impossible if more clubs like Real Madrid knock on the door. We would, in that case, certainly hope that Madrid do well this season so that they stick with their current boss- of course, not at the expense of our own success in the Champions League.
