Potential new owners are open to keeping “exceptional” Chelsea official on one condition

Potential new Chelsea owners ready to keep Marina Granovskaia on at Stamford Bridge

According to The Telegraph (Subscription Required), the potential new owners of Chelsea are willing to keep hold of Marina Granovskaia if their demands are met by her following the takeover. Uncertainty has surrounded her future at Stamford Bridge, with Roman Abramovich putting the club up for sale.

The parties interested in purchasing the Blues are open to letting Granovskaia stay if she could cut her professional ties off with Abramovich. They are well versed about what she brings to the club and how she has earned a name for herself in world football. Moreover, they believe she was merely an employee of the Russian owner, but giving in to their demands could negate any issues in the future.

Finding a suitable replacement for Granovskaia could be really difficult with her being named as the most powerful woman in football. The interested groups are ready to keep hold of her since her exit could leave an unfillable void, which is certainly troublesome under the current circumstances.

Some hope?

Granovskaia, the club director, was given the award for the best director in European football for 2021. Her impact cannot certainly be put into words, having been responsible for the way the club is run. Abramovich was merely the owner while she used to manage all the activities.

Agents like Federico Pastorello praised her transfer dealings while naming her to be “exceptional“. Perhaps one of her biggest moves was convincing the club to keep hold of Didier Drogba when she did not have much control like today. That decision eventually bore fruit as he helped us to our first Champions League title in 2012.

Fortunately for us, the Blues director is willing to hear the proposals from the new parties before taking a stance over her future. That does give us some hope that she will stay with us even after the departure of Roman Abramovich. However, whether she would agree to cut ties or not remains to be seen.

Losing Granovskaia could end up being damning for us since she is responsible for managing over 120 contracts in a summer transfer window. Moreover, she engaged in over 500 negotiations as well during that period, showcasing how crucial her role is in the club’s management. Let’s hope that an agreement can be reached between the new owners and her for the benefit of all the parties involved.
