Chelsea set up meeting with 24-year-old Brazilian ace Tuchel is ‘eager’ to sign

Transfer News: Chelsea have set for a meeting with Real Madrid defender Eder Militao

According to Marca, via TeamTalk (h/t Fotball.London), Chelsea have arranged a meeting with Real Madrid defender Eder Militao in an attempt to lure him to Stamford Bridge, with Thomas Tuchel said to be ‘eager’ to land his signature.

Since joining Real Madrid in 2019, Eder Militao has developed himself into one of the best defenders in La Liga. Because of his incredible performances and leadership qualities, the Los Blancos managed to minimize the after-effects of Sergio Ramos’s departure. At the age of only 24, the Brazilian has a promising future ahead of him.

Chelsea are already in a contract tussle with three of their senior defenders – César Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen. The trio will be free to leave the club in the summer transfer window if they don’t sign a renewal deal in the coming few months.

And it now seems like the Chelsea board are already preparing for any or all departures. It is believed that the Blues have arranged a meeting with Eder Militao in an attempt to convince him to switch Estadio Santiago Bernabeu for Stamford Bridge.

Militao to Chelsea?

Chelsea have enjoyed a solid defensive line under Thomas Tuchel, especially due to the steady rise of Antonio Rudiger and Christensen on top of Thiago Silva’s addition from PSG.

However, injury issues showed the manager how vulnerable the team is without the services of his main men at the back, barring the German international, who has remained largely available for selection throughout this season. And if any of them depart this summer, it is clear there would be a void to fill in our squad.

Even though our board’s primary focus should be to convince the current players to stay, we would be wise to plan for a potential defensive exodus in the summer. It is best to err on the side of caution here given how it could impact our chance at winning titles in the next campaign.

Militao has already become a star in Spain. The Brazilian international would make for a fine addition at the Bridge but it remains to be seen what will come of this apparent meeting between the player and the Blues.

His contract at Los Galacticos only expires in the summer of 2025, which could make things tough given Madrid would not be in any hurry to sell the defender due to fears of him becoming a free agent in the coming months. Hopefully, Marina Granovskaia has another trick up her sleeve and we see the talented Brazilian wear the famous Blue jersey next season.
