“Behind closed doors”- Tuchel refuses to rule out loan move for 25-year-old Chelsea ace

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel verdicts on the possibility of loaning out Ruben Loftus-Cheek out

According to the Mirror, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel couldn’t rule out the possibility of sending Ruben Loftus-Cheek on a loan move when questioned in the recent press conference.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek enjoyed a good spell of performances before being isolated due to contracting the Coronavirus infection. The Chelsea academy graduate has suffered from several injury issues during his nine-year period at the club, which may well be the primary reason behind him not reaching the expected heights.

Still only 25 years of age, the time to shine hasn’t passed for the English star and he has, in all honesty, played an important role for Thomas Tuchel’s side this season.

When asked about the possibility of loaning out Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Chelsea’s German manager suggested that he still has a lot to prove in the current campaign.

“We haven’t talked about it (loaning Loftus-Cheek out). He has a lot of game time; he has a lot to fight for here if we talk about Ruben and my personal opinion.”

The former Dortmund manager also revealed that even though the club hasn’t decided anything yet, the final decision would be taken behind the scene. If he hasn’t ruled it out, then there is a chance of it happening until deadline day.

“Anyway, this will happen behind closed doors. When we have something to announce, we will announce.”

Ruben Loftus-Cheek fell behind Chelsea’s highly-talented midfield trio in the initial phase of the season. However, injuries to N’Golo Kanté and Mateo Kovačić created a golden opportunity for the English midfielder, which he grabbed with both hands.

He is certainly a talented midfielder and he could certainly get some more game time in this campaign if he manages to remain fit. If he does get loaned out, it would be the third such temporary spell away from Stamford Bridge in his career.

He has already had spells at London-based clubs Crystal Palace and Fulham. But Loftus-Cheek has shown that he could fight for a starting place under Antonio Conte, and keeping him would serve our team better in the second half of the season, especially if Saul Niguez and Ross Barkley fail to convince the ex-PSG boss of their quality.
