Talented 20-year-old Chelsea academy product set for Championship loan

Chelsea starlet Tino Anjorin set for loan move to Huddersfield Town for the remainder of the season

According to football.london, Chelsea have agreed on a loan deal with Championship club Huddersfield Town that will see academy product Tino Anjorin join the Terriers for the rest of the campaign. With a day left for the January transfer window to close, Huddersfield have done well to snap up the talented midfielder on a short-term basis.

Anjorin has worked his way through the academy ranks over the years to claim a place in the first team this season. However, with the Blues’ midfield stacked with world-class talent, the youngster was forced to seek minutes elsewhere and saw him head to Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow on loan.

However, the midfielder has returned to his parent club after he suffered an injury late last year and cut short his loan deal with Lokomotiv. Having regained his fitness, the Englishman is now set for another loan spell in the same campaign, although it is with Huddersfield Town in the Championship.

This month, the midfielder has been the subject of transfer speculation, as Southampton were keen on signing Anjorin permanently this month. Despite the 20-year-old’s move to Huddersfield, the Saints are expected to pursue a deal for Anjorin in the summer.

Loan move for Blues starlet

In a transfer window with no major incomings for the Blues, the club is looking at a departure in the coming days with Anjorin’s loan move to Huddersfield. Despite his obvious talent, Chelsea’s decision to send him out this month makes it apparent that they do not believe that Anjorin can impact the first team.

With his proposed move to the Terriers coming just a day before the end of the transfer window, Anjorin is set to join fellow Chelsea loanee Levi Colwill, until the end of the season. The duo will help the club push to finish higher in the league table, as they eye a spot in the Championship play-offs.

Interestingly, Anjorin has a key link to Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick. The German coach was a big influence in bringing the Chelsea starlet to Russia while he was employed with Lokomotiv. However, once Man United came poaching for Rangnick, his exit was a key factor in both Anjorin and Lokomotiv deciding to end the player’s loan deal, despite having a £17m option to make his deal permanent.

With the loan deal with Huddersfield set to be complete soon, Chelsea are looking at yet another talented Cobham product departing the club before making a senior appearance. Although the Blues are famed for their academy, most players seem to be leaving the club for better opportunities elsewhere.

Having just returned from injury, Anjorin will look to regain his fitness and find his match rhythm while at Huddersfield and also take the chance to establish himself as a regular player in the Championship. The fight to help the Terriers finish in the play-offs spot should challenge the midfielder and provide valuable experience as a player.

Anjorin’s time in the Championship will certainly be one to look out for. If the player manages to impress, we may see him in the first-team squad next season as he seeks to make a breakthrough in our senior team soon and turn out for his boyhood club.
