The agent of Chelsea target Sergino Dest hints at player quitting Barcelona
According to German daily TZ via Inside Futbol (h/t Football.London), The agent of Sergino Dest has suggested that there is a lot of interest regarding his client in the market including Chelsea.
Sergino Dest is one of the most promising youngsters at La Liga. The American right-back has become a regular at Barcelona after the departure of Nelson Semedo. The 21-year-old has shown impressive aggressive intent throughout the season. Furthermore, he has already bagged three assists in 12 appearances in La Liga.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with Dest in recent times. The recent comment from the agent of the American star suggests whether Blues have a chance of luring him in the ongoing transfer window.
Dest’s agent revealed several offers for his client in the summer of 2021, which they rejected as the then Barcelona manager showed trust in the youngster. The agent also added that there wouldn’t be any scarcity of buyers if his client decides to leave the Catalan club.
“He has had a lot of enquiries; even in the summer, he had a lot of offers. But his coach at the time, Ronald Koeman, really wanted to keep him. How things will go on now, we will have to see. One thing is clear, a player like Sergino Dest is definitely not lacking in alternatives.”
Blues’s first-choice right-back, Reece James suffered an injury and was substituted against Brighton. The English star’s exact return date is unknown, but he would undoubtedly miss the coming matches, which are crucial for Blues title hopes. Therefore, the USMNT star’s arrival will give Tuchel more options to utilize when needed.
