Chelsea planning lucrative new deal for consistently impressive first-team ace

Chelsea are keen to reward Edouard Mendy with a lucrative new contract

According to Football Insider (h/t The Sun), Chelsea are planning to reward Edouard Mendy with a massive pay raise in an attempt to tie him down to a new deal.

The Senegalese international has been one of the most consistent performers for the Blues since the summer of 2020. His goal stopping abilities are on par with the best shot-stoppers in the world. While it was shocking to see him miss out on the Yashin trophy, there is no denying his ability.

Edouard Mendy has been rock solid in front of the goal for Chelsea.

The 29-year old has helped his team keep a clean sheet in 11 games out of the 19 he featured across all competitions this season. Also, Chelsea has conceded the lowest number of goals this season in the Premier League. The former Rennes player’s influence is clearly visible.

However, his current deal ay the club doesn’t justify Mendy’s incredible contributions. It is believed that the Senegalese goalkeeper earns only £60,000-a-week, which makes him one of Chelsea’s ‘low earning’ stars in the current team.

The awe-inspiring performances he puts up on a regular basis suggest that the Blues board shouldn’t take him for granted. As soon as the West Londoners loosen up, elite teams could be lining up for his signature. Thus, the board has decided to offer him a considerable pay raise, including an improved £100,000-per-week deal.

Mendy played a vital role in the Blues Champions League triumph last season. He has proved his worth on big occasions against giant teams since. The Chelsea board wouldn’t want to lose such a player in his prime years.
