Chelsea receive boost as 28-year-old superstar returns to training ahead of Leicester clash

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku returns to training ahead of the match against Leicester City

According to The Sun, Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku has returned to training ahead of the match against Leicester City in the Premier League. Both the club and the player posted updates on their social media accounts following the progress.

The 28-year-old was bought from Inter Milan for £97.5million this season to help them in front of goal. The Blues are solid at the back but have had troubles upfront thanks to Timo Werner not meeting expectations.

However, Lukaku suffered an injury against Malmo in the Champions League and has been on the sidelines for weeks. He had a great start in his return to Stamford Bridge but has experienced a slump in front of goal coming into the Malmo game.

The Belgian is now in contention to return in the coming games and could feature in the match against Leicester. It is still early for him to start so, a substitute appearance appears likely.

His recovery would be a boost to Thomas Tuchel’s side since they will face Juventus and Manchester United in quick succession after the Leicester clash. However, his return would depend upon how quickly he would be able to get back to the desired fitness level.

The English club will also be boosted by the return of Marcos Alonso, who missed the last game due to an ankle issue. They will need the squad up to their best as they will run into a packed fixture list late this month and December.

The Champions League holders will travel to King Power Stadium to face the Foxes on Saturday. Thomas Tuchel’s side sits top of the table with 26 points from 11 matches. They were held to a draw in the last game against Burnley before going into the international break.
