Spanish heavyweights open to selling 30-year-old forward amidst Chelsea interest

Transfer News: Real Madrid wants to get rid of Eden Hazard amidst Chelsea interest

According to ABC (h/t The Express), Real Madrid wants to get rid of former Chelsea legend Eden Hazard following his failure to meet expectations. He has had a tough time at the Spanish capital since leaving Stamford Bridge in 2019.

Los Blancos bought the 30-year-old for a fee of £89m plus £60m in bonuses to replace the gap left by Cristiano Ronaldo. However, thanks to injuries and fitness issues, he has had a disappointing time at Santiago Bernabeu and appears a shadow of his former self.

While he has featured in 11 matches this season, he has played just 415 minutes for Real. Hazard has been forced down the pecking order due to the displays by Vinicius Junior, who is showing real signs of reaching his potential.

Madrid wants to cut him from their wage bill and are looking to let him leave next summer. They are also open for a loan deal in the January transfer window. Chelsea have previously been interested in him, and this development could play into their hands.

The Blues could fiance a loan offer in January with an option to buy at the end of the season. While his return could pose risks like monetary issues and fitness questions, he would add more depth and quality to a frontline that has been affected by injuries.

The supporters would have mixed feelings regarding this as they would be delighted to welcome back their club legend. But they would also be concerned with the recent fitness woes the forward has suffered in recent years.
