According to the Chelsea official website, ten Blues nominees represent the men’s and women’s teams at the FIFA The Best Awards 2021. This was down to the success both teams had last season, which helped to mark their name in the football world.

The men’s team had a mixed season but ended strongly after Thomas Tuchel was appointed the coach. He helped them to a Champions League title and a top finish in the Premier League. They have carried over the early promise to this season and are currently the league leaders.

The Women’s team also enjoyed a successful 2020/21 season as they won the FA Community Shield, retained the Continental Tyres League Cup and were back-to-back Womens’ Super League champions. They were also Champions League finalists for the first time but lost out to FC Barcelona.
