“I know what I can do”- Chelsea attacker warns his best is yet to come after scoring winner vs Malmo

Hakim Ziyech wants to contribute more to this Chelsea side after scoring the winner against Malmo in the UEFA Champions League

Talking after his match-winning display (h/t Football.London) in his team’s Champions League win over Malmo on Tuesday night, Chelsa winger Hakim Ziyech said he wants to show his true potential to fans and his teammates.

Ziyech’s goal early in the second half was enough for the defending European champion to eliminate host Malmo from the tournament. With this win, The Blues took a step closer to the knockout stage.

It was a tight match but Ziyech broke the deadlock for Chelsea in the 56th minute, tapping home at the back post after Kai Havertz set him up brilliantly. It was the winger’s first strike since August after struggling to make an impact this season.

Ziyech was a happy figure after that match and said (h/t Football.London) he wants to continue with match-winning performances in the future as well, and stated that people are yet to see the best of him in a Chelsea shirt.

“I am trying to be important for the team with goals and assists. I have had some hard times behind me, the injuries and I haven’t really recovered fully [shoulder injury].”

“I work every day on it, even when it is not going as it is supposed to but I have always believed in myself, what I can do on the pitch, I am still believing.”

The key to Chelsea’s victory was the decision to swap Ziyech with Callum Hudson-Odoi at half-time, with the attacking pair switching flanks to great effect and the latter scoring the match-winner later on.

“No [if people have seen the best of him yet]. I know what I can do, where my highest level is.”

Hakim Ziyech has struggled with injuries during his time at Chelsea.

Since he arrived at Chelsea last summer, Ziyech has made 48 appearances for Chelsea. In those, he has started 29 but has finished only two of those games.

The Moroccan had struggled with form and fitness during his debut season at Stamford Bridge. At the start of this season as well he suffered from a shoulder injury, but now that he is back, Chelsea fans would be hoping he hits the same heights he used to reach with Ajax back in the day.
