“Thanks Ziyech”- Some fans react as Chelsea seal victory against Malmo and close in on UCL round of 16

Some fans react on Twitter as Chelsea beat Malmo 1-0 to retain second spot in their UCL group

According to the official Twitter account of the club, Chelsea defeated Malmo 1-0 and picked up all three points on Matchday 4 of the UEFA Champions League.

The importance of the game was displayed by the changes the German boss made from the Newcastle victory, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Marcos Alonso the only changes to the starting line-up on the night.

Although they kept the lion’s share of possession from the beginning of the game, Thomas Tuchel’s men had a lousy first half as they created few chances, and the decision making in the final third was lacklustre at best.

However, it felt like the 48-year-old manager inspired the players at the break. The second half began with the Chelsea wingers trying to get past their man and whip in crosses. This show of intent was a welcome sign.

Ten minutes into the second half, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Kai Havertz combined brilliantly on the right side as the young Englishman then delivered one of the most sumptuous crosses for Hakim Ziyech to tap into an empty net.

The West London outfit have been excellent in defending a lead since Tuchel’s arrival, and they closed out the game with their rigid defence giving very little away. They also got a chance to double the lead in the last minute of the game as substitute Christian Pulisic was through on goal and rounded off the keeper before hitting the side netting.

This was the American’s first outing since scoring in the club’s season opener against Crystal Palace. All in all, it was a complete performance by the Blues, who only have to win one more game to seal qualification to the knockout stages of Europe’s premier competition.

Let us now see how some Chelsea fans reacted on Twitter to the club’s comfortable victory on the night.
