‘Frustrated’ 22-year-old star prepared to leave Chelsea if playing time doesn’t increase

Player News: England international Mason Mount unhappy with his treatment at Chelsea

According to Daily Star, Thomas Tuchel will be handed yet another headache at Chelsea as their young midfielder Mason Mount is frustrated with his role at the club and is willing to leave if the situation doesn’t change.

Mount was a regular starter under former coach Frank Lampard and even Tuchel gave him enough game time last season. But things haven’t been the same in the current season so far.

The English international, who has been at the club since he was 6, has been in and out of the Blues starting XI this time around. The attacking midfielder started in the first three Premier League games of the season, before being dropped to the bench Aston Villa tie and subbed at half-time against Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite scoring a hattrick against Norwich in October things haven’t gone brightly for the 22-year-old midfielder. Since then he has played just 28 minutes before their Saturday’s 3-0 win against Leicester on Saturday.

Now a source close to the youngster has revealed that the player thinks he is underestimated at the club. The source said:

“Mason is a top lad and thought of well within Chelsea, and is popular with the team. But he isn’t feeling appreciated anymore.”

“He’s been at Chelsea since he was a tiny lad, but despite coming up through the Academy, he doesn’t feel like he gets the same treatment or recognition as players bought in for big money.”

Mount has become an indispensable member of the team under Tuchel as well.

Chelsea have spent a significant amount in the transfer market over the last couple of years as they have brought in the big names like Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Mount is at £75k a week and feels that he is paid very little in comparison to the other big names despite proving himself at the club over the past few years now. Mount’s current contract with the Blues is until 2024.

The Englishman is one of the most intelligent and cunning players in the Chelsea squad – the youngster is quick and with the ball at his feet and has the ability to close down the opposition players up the pitch. Keeping the future of Chelsea happy is important, because a successful club always plans ahead along with the present.
