Chelsea keeping tabs on £47m-rated French winger amid contract row with Bundesliga club

Transfer News: Chelsea interested in signing Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman

According to Bild (h/t The Sun), European champions Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Kingsley Coman amid his contract row with German Champions Bayern Munich.

The Blues are well aware that the winger’s contract expires in 18 months and is yet to dedicate his future to German giants. That is because Bayern are not willing to cave into Coman’s demand, who wants to double his weekly wages of £160,000.

The French international could be available for a cut-price deal of £47million if Chelsea want to secure a deal as Bayern are open to selling for that price. However, the west Londoners might face competition from Spanish club Barcelona.

Chelsea were linked with Coman throughout the recent summer transfer window but were apparently put off by Bayern’s £86million price tag.

But with less than two years of his contract remaining, Thomas Tuchel might want to invest in the winger given the injury problems suffered by Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech during their time at the club recently.

At a mere 25 years of age, Coman has already played for Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich, but has struggled to consistently find himself in the starting XI at any of the three giants.

Kingsley Coman has won 10 leagues title in his career.

The winger has already won ten league titles during his career and even scored the winning goal in the Champions League final in 2020 against PSG. It’s believed the French winger will now quit the Bavarian to be a regular starter somewhere else.

Earlier in September, Bayern Munich’s ex-sporting director addressed the speculation around Coman’s position at the club.

“I don’t think he will stay in Munich. Bayern had a recent tendency to lose players for free. Coman is an excellent player, but given the situation, I think Bayern will consider selling him.”

It remains to be seen how this story ends and while Coman is a versatile winger that can offer good depth, Chelsea don’t really have a shortage of young, exciting forwards who can man the flanks.
