Injury News: Concerns over Chelsea forward as he miss training sessions for his country

Chelsea star Kai Havertz misses Germany training sessions thanks to a bruised thigh

According to Bild (h/t Football.London), Chelsea forward Kai Havertz has missed multiple training sessions for the German national team due to an injury. He was lastly involved in the Premier League match against Burnley, where he scored in the 1-1 draw.

The 22-year-old was bought from Bayer Leverkusen last year for a fee of £71m. Following the move, he has made 61 appearances for the Blues and has scored 13 goals while setting up his teammates 11 times. His most important contribution came in the Champions League final when he netted the winner against Manchester City.

Earlier, the German international had mentioned that he felt some pain after crashing into the advertising boards. However, he also said that the pain faded away after a while during the match. And it is now stated that he missed the last two sessions for his home country ahead of the first qualifier.

However, he would have missed the first match against Liechtenstein regardless of the injury due to suspension. Having collected two yellow cards in the qualifying, he was to be sidelined for this match.

It is suggested that the forward is suffering from a bruised thigh injury, and no further information has been revealed yet. With no signs of him making a return to Cobham, things may not be serious as it seemed.

It is unsure whether if this has to do with what he suffered against Burnley or it is a different case altogether. More news surrounding the matter can be expected ahead of the second qualifier.

An injury to one of his forwards is the last thing that Thomas Tuchel needs at the moment, as Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner are currently injured. The international break could be of benefit since it would give ample time to work on the recovery.

As for Havertz, the league leaders would be keeping a close eye on the situation in the days to follow.
