Erling Haaland responds to £150m price tag amid Chelsea interest

Speaking to Sky Germany’s journalist (h/t football.london), Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland issued a brilliant response over his £150m valuation amid interest from Chelsea.

Haaland has been with Dortmund since January last year, when he signed from Austrian outfit RB Salzburg. During his eighteen-month stint with the Black and Yellows, the 21-year-old has grown into one of the most lethal goalscorers in Europe, plundering 57 goals in 59 games.

Haaland, as a result, has been attracting strong interest from several top clubs this summer, including Chelsea. The Blues are in the market for a new centre-forward as they look to find a prolific goalscorer to compete with Timo Werner, who had a mixed debut campaign in England.

Furthermore, with Olivier Giroud leaving and Tammy Abraham not a favourite under Thomas Tuchel, it becomes important that the Blues add another striker to their midst as they go about challenging for the Premier League title and defending their Champions League crown.

To that end, Haaland has been heavily linked with a move, although his £150m price tag is proving to be an issue. Nonetheless, the young forward came up with a brilliant quip when he was made aware of the aforementioned valuation.

The incident occurred during Dortmund’s pre-season training camp in Switzerland when Haaland asked a reporter from Sky Germany if there was any news regarding him, to which the journalist replied with Chelsea being interested and him being valued at £150m. Upon that, Haaland cheekily replied (h/t football.london):

“No, I’m not worth that.”

While he may not see it that way, but Dortmund certainly value him at £150m. Whether Chelsea are willing to splash that amount and sign him up remains to be seen.
