Chelsea playmaker on Bayern Munich’s radar with Blues yet to begin renewal talks

Bayern Munich have joined the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount

According to TZ (h/t Irish Mirror), Bayern Munich have shown interest in signing Chelsea and England national team playmaker, Mason Mount.

The 22-year-old player’s scintillating form attracted interest from Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich recently. The Bundesliga champion would get a massive boost in the midfield contingent if they become successful in luring the youngster.

The West Londoners are yet to start any renewal talks with the representatives of the English international player and this has created some speculation over his future in the Blue jersey.

Mount still has two and half years in his contract terms, and the board would have enough time to work out a renewal deal. But right now, Marina Granovskaia is seemingly focusing on sorting out the contract situation of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva.

What next for Mount?

It is believed that the 22-year-old player is valued by Chelsea at €75million (£63.6million). That is surely a big sum but it would certainly be tough finding a like for like replacement for Mount- a player in a similar age bracket who is as talented- within that price range if he were to leave.

Mount is one of the most exciting talents to come out of the Chelsea youth development system. His talents aren’t limited to paper, as he already showed performances convincing enough to become a mainstay under both Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea.

The British player was a key reason behind the UEFA Champions League triumph last season. This season, he has shown emphatic performances against teams such as Norwich City, where he bagged a hat-trick and one assist.

Mount presented enough reasons already to convince head manager Thomas Tuchel to count on his abilities. It is believed that the two pose a healthy relationship and it doesn’t really come as a surprise, considering Chelsea are Mount’s childhood club and he has become a fan favourite in recent years.

More Chelsea News

In a recent piece by Daily Star, it was claimed that Mason Mount felt underappreciated and undervalued at Chelsea and wanted to grow his career somewhere else. If there is any truth to that news, then the Blues must make sure they reflect their appreciation of Mount’s contribution at the club with a solid contract offer that keeps him at the club, hopefully until he retires.

After all, we must make sure that we keep away any European giant, in this case, Bayern Munich, that comes sniffing around for our brightest young talents.
