“At home”- Penalty shootout hero dismisses rumours of a potential transfer following Carabao Cup win

Transfer News: Kepa Arrizabalaga dismisses Chelsea exit following Carabao Cup win

According to The Sun, Kepa Arrizabalaga has opened up on his time at Chelsea and has brushed off the transfer rumours surrounding him in recent weeks. Kepa was the hero in the Carabao Cup as they beat Southampton in a penalty shootout at Stamford Bridge.

The 27-year-old was bought for a fee of £71.6million from Athletic Bilbao back in 2018 but has largely disappointed at Stamford Bridge. The fee made him the most expensive goalkeeper in the history of football and is still a world record to this day.

The Spaniard is currently second fiddle to Edouard Mendy as the Senegalese goalkeeper continues to impress with his displays week in, week out. However, he has done well in cup competitions, when given the opportunity.

Kepa went on to admit that he feels good at Chelsea and finds the club akin to home. It augurs well for the club and adds to the strength in depth in the goalkeeping department.

“When you are in the same place for years, you feel confident. You feel like you are more at home, more comfortable. I have been playing with the same guys for a couple of years and it’s good. I feel very good at this club right now.”

The Spain international recently helped his side to beat the Saints with his crucial saves in regular time and the penalty shootout. He had similar performances in the last round of the competition as well as in the UEFA Super Cup. Kepa clearly appears to be our go-to guy in penalty shootouts.

“I feel more relaxed in everything now. I feel everything is going in the right way, and confident. So, step by step, we are going in the right direction.”

Kepa seems happy with his role at the English club and hence the speculations linking him to Juventus and Lazio may seem to hold no weight. The Champions League winners could need him if Mendy has to leave due to his international duties in January.
