“An absolute leader”- Tuchel opens up on Chelsea colossus as contract negotiations drag on

Thomas Tuchel praises Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger amidst contract negotiations

According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Thomas Tuchel has spoken about Antonio Rudiger amidst contract negotiations between Chelsea and the player. Rudiger has been in talks regarding an extension for a while but has not been able to reach a deal with his club.

The centre-back can legally contact other clubs in the January window as his contract is set to expire in 2022. He has been a crucial part of the Blues ever since Tuchel took over the helm from Frank Lampard last year.

The German coach preferred the 28-year-old so much so that he let Kurt Zouma leave Stamford Bridge to West Ham United. The Blues manager’s views on the defender were made clear after he had praised him highly during the talks.

“Toni Rüdiger has established himself exceptionally since the first day we arrived. He is an absolute leader and plays at an incredibly high level”

There have been rumours that suggest the German international has held talks with Premier League rival clubs namely Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur. Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are also said to be in the fray as per the speculation.

Fabrizio Romano has said that the German defender wants to stay at Stamford Bridge and the Blues wants the player to renew. However, both parties are yet to agree on the terms as the January window approaches.
