Chelsea superstar takes a cheeky dig at Man United legend following bizarre criticism

Thiago Silva ridicules Paul Scholes for his bizarre claim on the Chelsea defence

According to the Overlap (h/t Football.London), Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva has shamed Paul Scholes for his bizarre claim on the Blues’ defence. The defender reacted to Scholes’ comments on his Instagram after a clip from the Overlap went viral.

The London giants sit top of the Premier League with 22 points from nine matches in the Premier League. Much of their success is due to their excellent defence who has only conceded three goals in nine matches so far.

The defence was also key in their success in the Champions League as they won the trophy last season. Speaking on the overlap, Scholes had claimed that Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United all have better defences than Thomas Tuchel’s side.

“I also don’t think you’re great defensively. I think [Antonio] Rudiger’s been really good but, other than that, you’ve got Thiago Silva who’s 36 or 37, Andreas Christensen’s a young player.”

Chelsea’s performances have made the Man Utd legend’s comments appear to be in poor taste. The Red Devils have meanwhile got worse over the weeks with their recent humbling at the hands of the Reds by a 7-0 scoreline at Old Trafford.

“Well, Liverpool have got the best centre-backs, [Manchester] City have got two great ones, I think United have got two really good ones. I think Chelsea are probably the weakest out of the top four defensively.”
