Potential transfer blow for Chelsea as PL side line up £100m January bid for 23-year-old Serie A star

Newcastle United are targeting a deal for Chelsea transfer target and Juventus ace Federico Chiesa in January

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t The Express), Newcastle United are planning on making a £100million move for Juventus star Federico Chiesa in January amidst interest from Chelsea.

The 23-year-old has been sensational for Juventus in the past year and has gathered a lot of praise for his tireless work rate and attacking intent.

In just 50 appearances for the club, Chiesa has racked up 27 goal contributions, which means that he is approximately contributing to a goal in every alternate game.

Moreover, his performances with Italy were nothing short of magic either as he helped them win the European Championship this summer. Thus, it is understandable why Chelsea are planning on making a move for the Italian.

Although the Blues currently possess the likes of Callum-Hudson Odoi, Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount, and Kai Havertz in the winger roles, Chiesa will only add quality to this squad. Additionally, at 23, he could become a mainstay at the club for several years to come.

However, these plans might now be ruined by Newcastle United. The Geordies have recently been acquired in a £300million takeover by the Saudi-backed Public Investment Fund and now have the richest owners in the world with a net worth of over £320billion.

Thus, there are already planning on putting that money to good use and are plotting plans to sign world superstars in the January transfer window itself. Chiesa is one of the names who is on top of their priority list as they look to add quality to their squad.

However, regardless of Chelsea and Newcastle’s interest, Juventus are not offloading their marquee star in January.
