“Honors me”: Soon-to-be out-of-contract Chelsea star addresses transfer interest from German giants

Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger addresses transfer talk linking him to Bayern Munich

As quoted by reliable transfer expert Christian Falk (h/t football.london), Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger claims that he is honoured by interest from Bayern Munich.

The German international is in the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge and has recently become an important part of Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI. Rudiger has had a mixed time at Chelsea since his move from AS Roma all those years back.

But under Tuchel, the 28-year-old has found a niche for himself in the three-man defensive line. He was also a big part of Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League triumph earlier this summer.

With a contract running down fast, interest in Rudiger from top teams does not come as a surprise. And the centre-back has now had his say on the apparent transfer interest from Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich.

“The interest honors me. that shows that I’ve done a few things right recently.”

This could well be a ploy from him to bring Bayern’s interest to Chelsea’s notice, but that is something no one can be sure of. What the fans do know is that Rudiger is yet to renew his deal at the club with time running out fast.

Chelsea should really look to plan ahead when it comes to their defensive line. The young centre-back duo of Marc Guehi and Fikayo Tomori departed for Serie A this summer while Kurt Zouma also sealed a permanent exit.
