Transfer News: Spanish giants keen to trump Chelsea for 21-year-old French starlet

Transfer News: Real Madrid keen to beat Chelsea to the signing of Aurelien Tchouameni

According to the Spanish publication Marca (h/t The Daily Mail), European giants Real Madrid are keen to beat out Chelsea in their pursuit of AS Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni.

The 21-year-old has stepped up for France in the absence of N’Golo Kante. He partnered Paul Pogba in midfield as Les Bleus defeated Spain to clinch the UEFA Nations League title.

Kante is not getting any younger and the Blues will need to bring in a suitable replacement for him. Tchouameni is a player on the club’s radar as he was the player to replace the 30-year-old in the French set-up when he was absent.

Chelsea’s pursuit will not be straightforward given the number of clubs keen on him. Real for their part, consider him similar to Casemiro and view him as a top target for 2022.

Los Blancos appear to have an eye on French talent and have an eye on both Mbappe and Tchouameni. While their financial might has taken a hit due to the coronavirus pandemic, there is hope that things will get better in the months to come.

Chelsea decided to add another midfielder to their side over the summer in Saul Niguez. The Spaniard has, however, failed to impress in his appearances so far. Whether he will do enough to convince the Blues to make his loan permanent remains to be seen.

The Blues could do with a dynamic young personality in midfield. In Tchouameni, they will be getting one of the top young players in Europe.
