Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger voted the club’s Player of the Month for September
According to Football.london, Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger has won the club’s Player of the Month award for September.
The Blues suffered defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League but are still top of the league after seven games played. They will hope to keep hold of the position against Brentford this weekend.
One of the players who has played a key role in Chelsea’s excellence is Rudiger. The German international is one of the best players under Thomas Tuchel and has played a huge role in our success.
A Rudiger-led defence conceded just two goals in five games during September – something that has become a trademark of Tuchel’s side since he took over.
The 28-year-old also scored at the right end in our 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur. It is fair to say that he is a worthy winner of the award.
Rudiger’s performances saw him clock 39 per cent of the fan votes, an overwhelming majority. Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy came second with 27.6 per cent of the votes.
Rudiger’s contract situation however rumbles on. His time at the club expires next summer and he is yet to pen fresh terms. This has not stopped him from impressing on the pitch.
If anything the Blues should do all they can to ensure he extends his stay at Chelsea. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen.
