Report: Tuchel has key decisions to make regarding four Chelsea stars for Brentford clash

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel faces key decision regarding four players ahead of Brentford clash

According to The Express, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel will have to make key decisions with regard to four first-team stars ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash against Brentford.

The Blues are currently top of the league and have a one-point lead over Liverpool. Tuchel’s side recently had a dip in form that has seen them lost two of their last three games in all competitions.

The late win against Southampton last time around showcased the side is capable of picking themselves up. He will need them to keep the run going against Brentford this week.

Thomas Frank’s side have taken the bull by the horns following their promotion to the top flight. They will provide a stern challenge and will not sit back against Chelsea.

Tuchel will, however, need to keep his side’s run going. He has decisions to make regarding four stars namely Romelu Lukaku, Ben Chilwell, Saul Niguez and Antonio Rudiger.

Lukaku left the Belgium squad and returned to Cobham training ground yesterday. He is suffering from muscle fatigue and it remains unclear just how long he will be out for.

While Lukaku’s absence is to do with a lack of fitness, Niguez’s is more of a loss of form. Much was expected of the Spaniard following his loan move to the Bridge. He has so far fallen short of expectations. Whether he will get another chance against Brentford remains to be seen.

Rudiger missed Germany’s final training session with a back issue and it remains to be seen how serious it is. One of the club’s standout performers, he could miss the clash at the weekend.

Chilwell has scored in his last two games for club and country. He has so far played second fiddle to Marcos Alonso as the club’s first-choice left-back. Whether this improvement in form will see him stake a claim for a starting spot remains to be seen.
