Transfer News: Real Madrid preparing a lucrative offer for Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger
According to Defensa Central via The Hard Tackle (h/t Football.london), Spanish giants Real Madrid are preparing a lucrative offer to lure Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The German international is currently in the final year of his deal at Stamford Bridge. An integral part of Thomas Tuchel’s backline, the 28-year-old’s future at the club is far from assured.
One of the teams in the fray for his signature is Real who are currently in the midst of a rebuild. Having parted ways with Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane this summer, Los Blancos are in need of a defensive leader.
They are currently preparing a lucrative new offer that will see Rudiger net £6.8million in wages. According to the report, Rudiger may find the offer difficult to turn down.
Real are also willing to throw in a signing on bonus. Such generosity could see them bridge the gap to the £9.3million that Rudiger is seeking. Whether it will be enough to see him bid adieu to Stamford Bridge remains to be seen.
As things stand, Rudiger is no close to agreeing to fresh terms at Chelsea. He is free to pen a pre-contract agreement with non-British sides from January 1. Whether a solution can be attained prior to that or if the German has already made up his mind to move elsewhere remains to be seen.
Chelsea may need to bring in a centre-back or two next summer. Not only may they have to deal with Rudiger’s exit but also an ageing Thiago Silva. Andreas Christensen is at best a third-choice defender and Tuchel would need to add to his options at the back.
