Transfer News: Chelsea on alert as they look to make move for Bayern Munich ace Kingsley Coman
According to an interview done on BILD TV (h/t Mirror), Chelsea have received a boost in their chase for Kingsley Coman. Former Bayern Munich sporting director Christian Nerlinger has tipped the French winger’s future to be away from Bayern. Chelsea along with Liverpool have been alerted to these new developments.
Chelsea had a bit of a quiet window this time. Of course, it was to be expected with the squad in much better shape when compared to the last season. Only positions that really needed upgrading were bolstered with new arrivals. Romelu Lukaku’s arrival was the only big signing of the summer while Saul Niguez was a bonus addition.
However, there were a few more names that did the rounds and one of them was Kingsley Coman. They were not the only ones as Liverpool were also understood to be after the Frenchman. Regardless, an £86million valuation meant that neither of the two sides followed up on their interest.
The latest statements from former Bayern sporting director Christian Nerlinger have somewhat perked up Chelsea’s ears. He primarily spoke about how Coman’s future could be away from Bayern.
“I don’t think he will stay in Munich. Bayern had a recent tendency to lose players for free. But you can’t do that in the long run, you have to sell players from time to time if the offer is right. Coman is an excellent player, but given the situation, I think Bayern will consider selling him.”

That is no doubt something Chelsea would want to hear. It’s not that Chelsea overly need a new attacker or a winger per se. However, if a serial winner like Coman is available and there is a chance to sign him, it should not be passed. This could be one to keep an eye on and see how it turns out.
