Transfer News: Thomas Tuchel confirms Chelsea held talks with Harry Kane
According to The Irish Independent, Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Chelsea indeed held talks for Harry Kane. Although the Chelsea manager had the feeling that Kane was going to join Manchester City. Neither ended up happening while Kane stayed back at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Premier League witnessed quite the transfer saga when Manchester City and Tottenham fought over Harry Kane. The Spurs striker wanted to leave the club in the summer after failing to win trophies. However, Spurs resisted City’s approaches and Kane has since retained his spot under Nuno Espirito Santo at N17.
It would seem City were not the only side after Kane. Chelsea were also believed to be in talks with Kane. Tuchel expressed his interest while Kane’s representatives made contact with Chelsea. The German admitted that Kane was an option for Chelsea but the deal was not really close.
“We never had a list with his name on it and I never went to Marina [Granovskaia] to tell her to buy him. But the club sorted out the situation. There are many people around players – their agents and advisers and people in between, and we had some information from these people, but it was never that close.”
Instead, Chelsea went on to sign Lukaku and not a lot of people will have any complaints about how he has started with 4 goals already.
