Thomas Tuchel tips Saul Niguez to thrive at Chelsea
According to The Independent, Thomas Tuchel has backed Saul Niguez to thrive at Chelsea and get used to the Premier League. The Spaniard endured a nightmare of a debut but his manager has just asked for time and patience.
Chelsea bolstered their midfield with the surprise addition of Saul Niguez in the summer. He was the third signing of the summer as Chelsea wrapped up a very good transfer window. However, Chelsea really cut it close to the deadline to get Saul and it was only by a matter of minutes that the Blues got their man.
Over the international break, Saul got a chance to get used to the surroundings. However, the Premier League is a whole different ball game and Saul understood that the hard way. He was handed his debut against Aston Villa but he was hooked off after a number of errors and looking outpaced by the opposition.
Saul did not feature in the Champions League for Chelsea after that. Nonetheless, Thomas Tuchel finally had a chance to talk about the midfielder. He understood the issues but felt that Saul would thrive if given time.
“It takes maybe now a bit of time to get it off his shoulders but the good thing is he is of an age where he does not worry too much. He is self-confident and the good thing is everybody in the dressing room and in the club knows him very well and played many times against him. So there are no doubts. It just needs a bit of time and the best thing to react is what he did. He trains good and he trains with intensity and this will prepare him for the next time he is on the pitch for us.”
