Milan Skriniar in discussion for new deal at Inter Milan amidst Chelsea links
According to CalcioMercato (h/t football.london), Chelsea have suffered a blow in their chase to sign Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan as the Slovakian has entered discussions over a new deal at the San Siro club.
The Blues, who have the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Trevoh Chalobah, Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva, Cesar Azpilicueta in their ranks, could add another centre-back to the fold.
Given the fact that Antonio Rudiger has entered the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge and could leave on a free transfer next summer, the addition of another centre-back would certainly be a timely one.
Moreover, Thiago Silva is also not getting any younger and will also be out of contract next summer unless a deal is agreed between the concerned parties.
The West London club lost the services of Kurt Zouma to West Ham United this summer and also failed to get a deal over the line for French centre-back Jules Kounde from Sevilla.
While they could still return for the 22-year-old in January, Romelu Lukaku, who signed from Inter Milan this summer, apparently suggested that the Blues take a look at his former-teammate Milan Skriniar, according to SportMediaSet (h/t The Sun).

However, it does not look like an avenue the Blues might be able to pursue as it seems like Slovakian centre-back is now in discussions with Inter Milan over a new deal that will keep him at the Serie A club until 2026, according to CalcioMercato (h/t football.london).
Thus, this would be a huge blow to Thomas Tuchel & co as they would now have to look at other options in the market as they look to challenge on all fronts again this season.
