Chelsea ready to move for 21-year-old French ace but face competition from Juventus

Chelsea eager on a move for Aurelien Tchouameni but will face Juventus in race for midfielder

According to Tutto Mercato Web journalist Nicolo Ceccarini via Sport Witness (h/t football.london), Chelsea are ready to ‘accelerate’ their efforts to sign Aurelien Tchouameni but will face competition from Juventus for the player’s signature.

The midfielder has enjoyed his time at the French outfit since moving there in January 2020. In the last one and a half years, Tchouameni has managed 55 appearances for the Ligue 1 side and also helped the club finish 3rd in the table last season, just 5 points off Champions Lille.

The 21-year-old was also named Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year last season, and the Blues are now ready to accelerate their interest in the player.

The West London club currently possess the likes of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic at the club while they also signed Saul Niguez on a loan deal on deadline day. Although Niguez’s contract does have an option to buy the Spaniard at the end of the season, it remains to be seen if the Stamford Bridge outfit will exercise that option.

Additionally, both Kante and Jorginho have either turned 30 or will do so later this year, and thus the Blues could look to add more young blood to the club’s midfield options. At 21, Tchouameni would certainly bring that to the table, while also providing quality depth in the centre of the pitch.

However, signing the youngster will not be an easy deal as Serie A giants Juventus are readying a move for the Frenchman in January itself, according to Nicolo Ceccarini via Sport Witness (h/t football.london).

Thus, the Blues will be hoping to convince the midfielder of their project at the club as Thomas Tuchel looks to add more talent to his incredible squad.
