Mason Mount can proudly say that he is one of the best examples of that. His crowning moment came last season when he won the Champions League with his boyhood club. It was he who provided the assist for Havertz’s goal in the final that won the game. The academy graduate has evolved into an important player for both club and country.
Regardless, Chelsea now want to reward him for his impact and importance to the team. His last contract was signed two years ago and had a wage of £75,000-per-week. Now, the Blues are ready to open talks over an extension and a lucrative pay rise that will see him earn double the current wages.
Mount deserves a new contract and very few can say otherwise. He has carved out a name for himself in a team of superstars and that is no small feat. Chelsea have signed a host of players but Mount remains a regular in the side, dictating play and providing the attacking nous.
