“On Chelsea’s radar”- Journo claims Chelsea can revisit long-term interest in 18-year-old starlet next year

Transfer news: Chelsea are monitoring the progress of Jude Bellingham

According to transfer expert Dean Jones (h/t football.london), Chelsea are keeping an eye on the progress of Jude Bellingham as they could plot a move for the Englishman next summer.

Bellingham, who signed for Borussia Dortmund last summer from Birmingham City, has been a revelation as he featured heavily for the Signal Iduna Park outfit. Last season, Bellingham made 46 appearances in all competitions for the German side and scored 4 goals and had 4 assists in the process.

The 18-year-old played a huge part in the Bundesliga club finishing 3rd in the league table last season, while he was also instrumental in Dortmund’s Champions League run, where they bowed out in the quarter-final to Manchester City.

The youngster has now caught the attention of last season’s Champions League winners, Chelsea. The Blues are aware of the player’s talent, and given his age, he could be part of the Blues’ midfield for a long time.

Transfer expert Dean Jones also confirmed Chelsea’s interest in the 18-year-old. He said (h/t football.london):

“Jude Bellingham’s been on Chelsea’s radar for the past year or so. And I think that situation is one they’ll start to explore further in the new year.”

Thomas Tuchel & co would be aware that both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante have turned 30 or will do so this year, while both their contracts will be up in two years. Thus, given that the duo will enter into the final year of their contracts next year, signing Bellingham as a long-term option could be a clever coup by the West London club.

Thus, a potential move for the young Englishman could be on the cards next summer, provided the midfielder is open to signing for the Stamford Bridge outfit.
