Chelsea willing to orchestrate swap deal to sign 25-year-old Bundesliga star

Chelsea are open to letting Timo Werner join Bayern Munich in a swap deal for Leroy Sane

According to Todos Fichajes (h/t The Sun), Chelsea would be open to letting Timo Werner leave the club and join Bayern Munich in a swap deal involving Leroy Sane.

The 25-year-old winger, who joined Bayern Munich from Manchester City in 2020, has been of interest to the Blues. Sane managed 44 appearances for the German outfit last season as he scored 10 goals and provided a further 12 assists in all competitions.

Although the Blues do have a lot of talent on the wings, namely Callum Hudson-Odoi, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, and Christian Pulisic, and Timo Werner, they could add another winger to the fold. However, they are also open to letting Werner leave the club and sign for Bayern Munich.

The German forward has suffered for game-time this season as he has only made 1 Premier League start, with the Stamford Bridge outfit’s club-record signing of Romelu Lukaku leading the line for the last three games.

Moreover, Werner is said to be one of the main targets for the German giants while he is apparently also in regular contact with Julian Nagelsmann. While this is the case, Thomas Tuchel is not too keen on letting Werner leave the club as he recently said (h/t The Sun):

“I am sure that we will find games and solutions where we play with both of them [Werner and Lukaku]. We have not too many players, but we have players with high quality and high ambition, and Timo is clearly a guy that we count on, and that is absolutely necessary we have him on high level.”

Thus, while there could be interest from both sides, it remains to be seen whether a swap deal would materialize in the future.
