Team News: Chelsea could be without star trio for PL clash vs Aston Villa

Chelsea could be without Kai Havertz, Romelu Lukaku & N’Golo Kante for the Aston Villa clash

According to The Express, Chelsea might go into the game against Aston Villa on Saturday without Kai Havertz, Romelu Lukaku, and N’Golo Kante.

Havertz has featured in all four games for the club this season, including against Villarreal in the UEFA Super Cup final and against Liverpool in the weekend before the international break.

The German was then called up for international duty and also featured in the country’s 2-0 win against Lichtenstein. However, the 22-year-old missed the next game against Armenia as he was ill. Thus, it remains to be seen whether Havertz will be fit before the game against Villa on Saturday.

The bigger worry for Tuchel would be the loss of his burly striker upfront in Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian also featured for his nation during the international break while he also scored two goals in the country’s 5-2 win against Estonia.

Although Lukaku went on to score against the Czech Republic as well, he was substituted after 81minutes as he later went on to confess that he has a niggling injury issue.

Lukaku may miss the game against the Villains.

Lukaku has already featured in two games for the Blues and has been a real force up front. However, the Belgian now has to undergo a scan on his thigh and Tuchel will be hoping it is nothing serious.

Like Havertz and Lukaku, N’Golo Kante too was called up during the international break but the Frenchman pulled out of the national squad as he was not ‘fit enough’. The midfielder suffered an injury in the game against Liverpool and was brought off at halftime. His availability for Saturday is also a major doubt.

Thus, Thomas Tuchel faces a race against time to have his three stars back in contention for Saturday, but only time will tell if the trio is fit enough to face Villa.
