The latest team news as Chelsea gear up to face Manchester City and maintain their winning run
According to football.london, Chelsea are ready to go toe-to-toe with Manchester City on Saturday, and there could be a few key absentees to the lineup.
The Blues are currently sitting top of the Premier League table after winning 3-0 against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. However, they will now face the champions of the land in Manchester City this weekend.
Although Thomas Tuchel would have liked a fully fit squad, that might not quite be the case. Edouard Mendy missed the game Tottenham and even against Aston Villa in mid-week, and it remains to be seen whether he would be fit enough for Saturday.
Further, N’Golo Kante was also brought off after playing 45 minutes against Villa in mid-week. However, it was a deliberate substitution made by Tuchel as it was agreed before the game that he and Mount would ‘share the game’. Thus, the 30-year-old could be ready for the game against the Citizens on the weekend.
Timo Werner, who scored Chelsea’s only goal against Villa in the EFL Cup tie, did not wish to take a kick in the penalty shoot-out after suffering a calf issue towards the end of the game.
While there is no certainty on whether he will play a role against City, the fact that he stayed on the pitch despite a problem could be an indication of his availability on Saturday.

Lastly, Christian Pulisic, who has only played one Premier League game for the Blues this season, suffered an ankle injury earlier this month during international duty. Given that Tuchel felt that the Villa game in mid-week would be too soon for him to return, it is possible yet unlikely that the American will feature against Man City.
Thus, with less than 48 hours for the game, the West London club will be hoping to have as many players back fit as possible as they gear up to face reigning league champions Man City.
