Chelsea will face competition from Manchester City & Manchester United for Declan Rice
According to The Guardian, Chelsea are monitoring the situation of Declan Rice at West Ham United amidst uncertainty over his future.
The West London club added handsomely to their midfield trio of Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, and N’Golo Kante this summer by bringing in the 26-year-old Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid on a loan deal with an option to buy.
However, the Blues have already started looking at other players as they look to bolster their options in the centre of the pitch.
Declan Rice is one of them, who was on the radar of the Stamford Bridge outfit this summer, but his £100million price stumped most suitors in the market.
The English international has refused two contract extension offers this year and will enter the final two years of his contract next summer, should he not agree to a new deal with the Hammers over the course of this season.
Thomas Tuchel would be aware of the fact that both Jorginho & N’Golo Kante will be in the final year of their respective deals next summer, and a new contract has not been signed by either midfielder yet. Moreover, it remains to be seen if Billy Gilmour develops into a starter for the club while there is no certainty on signing Saul on a permanent move either.

Thus, Rice could be a clever move by the London club as he was previously their academy graduate and shares a good relationship with Mason Mount. Additionally, the 22-year-old is well versed with the challenges of the Premier League, having made over 100 appearances in the league for the East London club.
However, with Manchester United & Manchester City also in the race to sign the midfielder next summer, it remains to be seen whether the Blues could convince the Englishman to make the switch to Stamford Bridge.
