Team News: Tuchel confirms 30-year-old Chelsea star’s availability for London derby

Injury News: Thomas Tuchel confirms N’Golo Kante availability for Chelsea on Sunday

Speaking in the pre-match press conference (h/t football.london), Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Chelsea will have N’Golo Kante available on Sunday as the midfielder has recovered from his injury.

The Blues are set to go toe-to-toe with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday and will be hoping to pick up a victory as they look to maintain their position at the top of the table. The Stamford Bridge outfit would be going into the game on the back of a Champions League victory against Zenit.

However, two players that were unavailable for the mid-week game were N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic. While the latter will still take some time before he makes the return to the squad, the Frenchman has been declared fit by Tuchel for the London derby on the weekend (h/t football.london).

Speaking in the press conference ahead of the weekend game, Tuchel said (h/t football.london):

“N’Golo [Kante] is back. Back in full shape and ready to play.”

A pivotal part of the club’s success in the Champions League last season, the 30-year-old went on to feature for the club in the UEFA Super Cup final as well but was withdrawn in the second half. It was later confirmed that the French international had picked up an injury.

Although it seemed like the player was fit again after coming on as a substitute against Arsenal, the midfielder suffered another setback with a groin injury in the game against Liverpool. This also led to the World Cup winner sitting out during the international break and failed to feature in a single game for France.

However, the player’s return has certainly been a timely one since the West London club will be facing Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Juventus over the next two weeks in key clashes for the club.

The Frenchman’s focus will now be on remaining fit and contributing actively in the derby on Sunday.
