Chelsea ace Antonio Rudiger is being eyed by Real Madrid
According to a tweet put out by Absolute Chelsea as per @diarioas via @le10sport (h/t football.london), Real Madrid are ‘keeping tabs’ on the situation of Antonio Rudiger as the defender has entered into the final year of his contract.
The German, who joined Chelsea in 2017 under the then manager Antonio Conte, has flourished during his time at the club but fell down the pecking order during the first half of last season under Frank Lampard.
However, since fellow countryman Thomas Tuchel has arrived at the club, Rudiger has been a consistent figure in the starting lineups. The centre-back was a crucial part of the Chelsea side that won the Champions League and reached the FA Cup final back in May.
Rudiger has also started the current season in good form and was a vital cog in the club’s UEFA Super Cup victory back in August as the 28-year-old also scored one of the decisive kicks during the penalty shoot-out. Since then, the German has featured in all of the club’s Premier League games and has been part of a defence that has only conceded one goal in four games.
Thus, while he is an important player at the West London club, the former Roma man has now entered the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge and is weighing up his options.
Real Madrid are also keeping ‘tabs’ on the defender should he fail to sign an extension at the club, according to the Twitter account of Absolute Chelsea as per @diarioas via @le10sport (h/t football.london).

If the Blues fail to tie down the 28-year-old to a new deal by January, the centre-back would be eligible to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign parties as a free agent.
Hence, with Madrid circling around for the German’s signature, it remains to be seen whether the player will stay at the London club beyond this season.
