Injury Update: 28-year-old Chelsea striker deemed fit for Villa clash after featuring in training

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku expected to feature against Aston Villa after undergoing scans last week

According to the reports Chelseafc.com (h/t football.london), Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku is fully fit for the Aston Villa game this weekend. The player revealed he had to undergo a scan on his thigh which caused him some minor issues. However, the Belgian was back with the team and trained for a full session erasing a lot of doubts about his involvement in the Villa game.

Romelu Lukaku was the biggest signing for the Blues this summer as the player made a return to the Premier League after a successful spell with Inter Milan in Serie A. Chelsea paid a reported sum of £97.5m, a club-record fee, to bring the Belgian striker back to Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku, during his time at Inter Milan, scored an impressive 64 goals in 95 appearances in all competitions. He also was instrumental for Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan team who won the Serie A title breaking the consecutive streak of Juventus in doing so. The 28-year old striker after making his move back to Chelsea has started pretty well in the Premier League.

The striker was off the mark and scored his first goal on his Chelsea debut against Arsenal in a London Derby. However, the player could not repeat the performance against Liverpool at Anfield, after Chelsea were reduced down to 10 men for the entirety of the second half. Despite the red card to Reece James Chelsea held on to a 1-1 draw and earned a point away from home.

Chelsea are unbeaten so far in the Premier League and are set to face Aston Villa next after the conclusion of the international break. However, they could be without N’Golo Kante who has an injury, and Thiago Silva as the Brazilian players have been handed a five-day ban by FIFA after Premier League clubs refused to let go of their Brazilian players on International duty.
